Lindsay Boxer is a San Francisco homicide investigator and she is called to a most disturbing crime scene in which a bride and groom have been killed on their honeymoon night. As Lindsay begins the investigation another murder takes place...the same M.O......a bride and groom on their honeymoon night. What kind of sicko killer is she up against? The investigation seems to lead nowhere so she turns to her friend, the medical examiner on the case. Both women enlist the help of an investigative reporter and the assistant D.A. to form a club known as "The Women's Murder Club." Each does their own investigating and they meet to compare notes. As they go through the pieces they come upon on item that peaks their interest greatly. There is an unpublished author whose book depicts each of these same murders in detail. They don't have any concrete evidence against the author just yet, but twist and turns keep taking them here and there in a spinning thriller suspense until the end of the book and the shocking revelation.

I finally got around to reading this series by Mr. Patterson, which I feel now I grossly over-looked! "1st To Die" is the first novel and it is wonderfully written and I just love the group of woman who take charge to find the killer, which would have been almost impossible if done on their own. There are devastating health issues Lindsay is dealing with but she never lets it stop her, in fact I think it keeps her going stronger. The plot is fast paced and the mystery itself is one you love, because it is full of the usual twist and turns and you'll have a time guessing. I can see where Mr. Patterson uses his expertise from his Alex Cross series to weave this tale. Fans will not be disappointed. I just wish I had started reading them earlier, but I read this book in one day!

A good, page-turning thriller but without the depth of Patterson's previous Alex Cross novels. Did you ever watch an edge-of-the-seat movie with ho-hum actors? Like that movie, this book is exciting and interesting to the end; but, unlike Patterson's previous novels, I wouldn't have minded if any of the main characters had been "eliminated."

1st to Die - A Great Start

I read the 4th & 5th books in the series before this one so it was nice to go back to the beginning and see where lieutenant Boxer was coming from. If you have read other books in the series I recommend going back and reading this one. And If you are new to the series then this is the place to start!

In this book Detective Boxer joins forces with 3 other awesome women to solve a string of very sad and unusual murders. Brides and Grooms are being murdered on their wedding day. The main villian is a total sleaze. Just when it looks like the murders have been solved by Lindsay, there is a twist that causes total doubt. Does she have the right guy? During the investigation Lindsay finds out that she has a life threatening disease and must go through blood transfusions to fight it. She's fighting for her life, chasing a totally insane killer and she falls in love!!! There's alot going on in this book. A great start to a great murder mystery series!

First of the series - I bought this as I had heard many good things about this series. I had read many of James Patterson's books but this was suspenseful and twisting throughout the book. Never really knew who the culprit was until the end. Couldn't put the book down - I would recommend this book but must warn that it is very graphic when describing the crime scenes.

Friend of mine gave me the 4th of July. After reading it, I had to have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and now 6th.

I never cared for the Alex Cross novels Patterson writes about. So after reading this series, I was rally impressed and drawn in.

I could not stop reading them. I love Lindsay Boxer. Her battles with her personal issues and work issues give her a realistic personality I could relate to. I could not stop reading all these books. Then after ripping through them. I went back and re-read them. I gained a lot of details in the second read.

I myself loved all of the books. I highly recommend them to any and all readers.

I bought this book about 2 weeks ago and just finished it. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes detective books. The author grabs your attention right from the beginning and holds it until the last page. He has a way of bringing the characters to life, you feel like you know them.
