Band of Brothers...The Baddest of the Bad!

Hands down, this is one of the greatest disk collections ever created. The Band of Brothers is the story of Easy Company, a tight-knit crew of World War II soldiers and their journey from the beginning to the end of the war. I have watched this collection through at least 5 times from beginning to end.

In addition to the backdrop of the war, this series is about the stories behind the bonds that these soldiers forged during the war. A lot of my friends were under the impression that this film was a typical war movie involving testosterone and gunpowder, but the truth is that this movie has very little to do with other Lee Marvin films - this movie is about the people.

The craziest part of this series is when you sit back and realize that The Band of Brothers was a real group of people. It actually makes you drift in and out of the Hollywood experience. As deep as you get into the drama, you are snapped back to the reality that the Band of Brothers were REAL PEOPLE.

If you have read any of the Stephen Ambrose books, enjoyed Saving Private Ryan, or have a pulse...you will really enjoy this film.

Currahee!

Probably the best real action series made

What can say about this series? It just totally grabs you and it is hard to stop watching. You want to view the whole series at once but of course that is difficult to do. It was especially interesting for me as a paratrooper and one time member of the 101st Airborne Division but I think anyone who is interested in the history of World War II or is a fan of action movies will really enjoy this set. Make sure you purchase it from a reputable seller if you want to get the real thing and not some ripped off copy.

I have a very large DVD Collection but this is the diamond in the rough. To be able and watch the group of men in Easy Company from day one untill the job was done. The captivation of they're loyalty to one another in the face of anything really came through in this collection. Terrific cast of characters that did a wonderful performance truly encapsulating the mindset of Easy Company. DVD's also have interviews with actual veterans talking about they're experiences in Easy Company. This one is a must have for anyone, if not for anything else to remember what America stands and still fights for.

This Real to life Based War series lets the viewer dig into each character and basically become one of the soldiers as if you were there. The emotions and actions of the cast felt real. I enjoyed this so much I bought the set. Thanks for Reading!

The Best mini-series you can watch

By now I'm sure most of you have heard of this mini-series, and with good recommendation. It is by far one of the best dramatizations of World WarII that you will ever see. Based on the history of the 101st airborne 506th PIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment) 'E'(Easy) company throughout WWII in Europe. From the beginning of the company in Georgia to the end of the war in Europe it will leave you wanting more.
The tin the series comes in is very nice. It is a six disc set which folds out to a sleeve with a disc on each page, plus a bonus disc with the making of and some other extras which are really nice. The whole collection is over ten hours of material. One of the things I liked most about the set is on each disc it gives a time line history of the episode and it goes into detail about rank which helps to follow the chain of command for people not familiar with rank in the military. I also enjoyed the soundtrack so much I bought it as well, however it is seperate.
With a cast of unknowns at the time, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks behind the scenes, and based on Stephen Ambrose best-selling book you can't go wrong.
At the beginning of each episode it has a few men from Easy Company, yes the actual guys portrayed in each episode, tell a little about what they felt at that time during that particular situation. That has to be one of my favorite pieces with each episode.
Let me say this real quick, the scene where the allies fly into Normandy on D-Day is by far the best I have ever seen. If you have surround sound this dvd set is a must just for the sound alone. When the paratroopers come down in occupied France in the dark with Germans firing all around them it is quite a scene. Especially from the viewpoint of someone jumping from a plane, being shot at, and heading towards the fiery crash from another plane that was shot down. And you see all this and..... just get it, it's more than worth it. From D-day to Operation Market Garden to the Battle of the Bulge the action and suspense never end.
Oh, and did I mention it was a Golden Globe winner for best mini-series or movie made for television.

History worth watching

I had seen parts of this series on HBO but had never been able to sit down and watch the entire show. I liked the interviews with Easy Co. Veterans, it gave a first hand perspective of the battles and what they had to endure. I highly recommend this set to anyone who likes history, especially the WWII era.
One thing that would have been nice is a timeline of battles and locations from when they first jumped into France until the end of the war, either on one of the DVD's or hardcopy. Other than that I thought it was a great series.

Truth & Understanding Removes Doubt & Prejudice
by: jharr0615 (80Feedback is 50 to 99) Review created: 08/04/06

The Band of Brothers series brings you truth and understanding about World War II. The heartache of war and all that it entails will move you so much, that intellectually you will find yourself in a better place. You will see our country's history with a new perspective. Furthermore, you will see people of different ethnic origin as equals. Prejudice is a synonym for uneducated.

The men of the 506th regiment of the 101st Airborne Division sacrificed every ounce of innocence so that we would not have too in the future. This movie should not make you tear up; it should make you weep. Lastly, if you do not watch this movie, you have denied yourself truth, understanding and education. Why would anyone want to deny themselves of that.
