Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare PC games
by: 748rolex (3) Review created: 09/02/08

Call of Duty 4 is a great first person shooter game. Probably the best of all time. I decided to buy the game because I previously purchased it for the PlayStation 3 game console and found that buying Call of Duty $ for my laptop would allow me to take the game anywhere I would like while on the go.

The best game in an outstanding series.

Over the years the Call of Duty franchise has proven itself the most venerable WWII shooter franchise out there. Consistently intense and immersive, each main installment in the series (with the exception of series misstep Call of Duty 3, whose development was outsourced to Treyarch) has improved upon its predecessor in every way possible.

Yet the WWII arena is becoming unmistakably stale. There is nary a skirmish that could ever have conceivably happened that has been left unplayed by jaded WWII gamers. Thankfully developer Infinity Ward realized this and reinvented their franchise as a simulation of modern combat before it went the tired way of the Medal of Honor series. But do the new digs do the series justice?

Gameplay-wise Call of Duty 4 is remarkably similar to its predecessors, and series veterans will feel right at home despite vast changes in weaponry and locales. This is a double-edged sword, however. You will find the same intensity, the same tight controls, and the same general level of polish that has made earlier Call of Duty games so great. But you will also notice the same faceless, endlessly spawning enemies that plagued earlier games. The sense of realism is somewhat compromised when it becomes clear that no matter how many quasi-terrorists you murder, they will continue to bum rush you until you manage to sprint to that next bombed out-house. Still, this is not a deal-breaker in what is overall a very satisfying single player experience. The music and sound effects are once again masterfully done, and the modern combat settings sport a graphical overhaul that leaves you feeling like you're really there. This game is truly beautiful.

Where COD4 really shines, though, is in the multiplayer. The COD series has always offered a somewhat unique multiplayer experience, utilizing shifting spawn points to give a real sense of a dynamic battlefield that feels alive and changing as you play. This returns, even more finely tuned than before. But what makes multiplayer the real winner in this package is the addition of a full character progression system not unlike what is offered in Battlefield 2. Progressing through the 55 character ranks and trying to complete the myriad challenges can get extremely addicting and add significant replay value to the game.

Realistically, the game is worth it for the multiplayer component alone. But the single-player game is worth a playthrough as well, which makes this a substantial package overall. I do have some minor complaints about the singleplayer game mechanics, but these are nothing compared with the things the game does right. They were not deal -breakers in the earlier games, and they are not deal-breakers now. Buy this game.

Call of Duty 4 PC Game
by: jonis4 (99Feedback is 50 to 99) Review created: 08/27/08

Call of Duty 4 is definitely one of the top 10 games in the gaming community ever. Whether you prefer to play single player or multi-player both are truly incredible in the overall scope of battlefield and special ops scenarios. COD4 covers a wide spectrum of playability for all levels of tactics and overall game play. The minimal specs' your PC will need to be are definitely higher than previous games, however for what you do get, it more than makes it worth it. There are many perks and challenges in this game that will keep you busy for quite sometime. Some of these perks are more for noob players who like to get kills after they go down, since they can't get those kills without assistance from the game itself(i.e. "Last Stand" and "Martydom").

There are few things I dislike about this game which are tidbit compared to most other games I've played. 1st thing I dislike is no binoculars. Quite funny I have seen no stock maps in multi-player mode that need night vision yet you can click night vision on and off, yet there are no Binoculars in game. If you want to zoom bust out the scoped weapon. Binoculars would have been a much wiser choice over night vision for multi-player gaming. 2nd, the scoring to me is very lame. Say someone had 76 kills and 83 deaths and I had 75 kills and 3 deaths, they still would finish with a higher score than me just because they killed more people. I think in being killed more often you should lose points to that as well, but you don't. Just because someone gets more kills does not mean they played better, very lame. As little as this is, it does bug me somewhat. When you minimize a game it should mute the sound of the game, but it doesn't. Most games I have played for the last decade muted when they minimized. Last things that bother me are a few of the weapons are quite un-realistic and how you can perk them. Sorry but a RPD does not shoot that accurate in the real world even if you did put a red dot scope on it. I love the M4 in this game but I think not being able to perk a red dot reticle with a silencer is just a huge shortfall. Most our military has this option in Spec Ops so bad call here. The G3 only has semi-auto? What is up with that? Guess they knew it would be a total noob ownage weapon and opted to not enable any full auto for it. Lastly the network list when updated never shows all servers even your own half the time and can make those who don't know how to add by i.p. a task for them. As I stated earlier these shortfalls are very small compared to other first person shooters in comparison.

This game can be bought on DVD or through a community like Steam. Definitely a plus not having to have the DVD stay in the tray to play like on Battlefield Games I have played. The maps have very intense detail to them, however wish they would have bigger maps. You can go into mod servers and custom maps however this unranks the server as punkbuster does not run in them.

Overall this game promises a great time and last I checked there were over 18,000 servers! If you can't find it there then your blind as a freakin rock! Game is one of the best yet... HAVE FUN!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would

same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link

Call Of Duty 4 Review
by: hoodstar45 (13Feedback is 10 to 49) Review created: 08/17/08

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the PC is the best game you could possibly buy. This game is awesome. The game is so real and graphics and some of the best i've seen. The storyplay is excellent and so real, it feels as if you're in the game. Multiplayer and online-play is the best. You can interact with other fans and players of this game and play matches with them. Just because this game isn't for the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 doesn't mean that the game isnt totally awesome. The PC version of this has killer graphics and, AGAIN, multiplayer and the story line is excellent. If you are considering to buy this game, you shouldn't underestimate the game just b/c it's on the PC. If you buy this game, it's money thats not wasted. Thank you all for reading my review and after you've read this review, please put that you've found this review helpful. Thanks
