After reading Stephen King's Duma Key, it is obvious that Florida's salt air and sunshine must agree with him. Like Edgar Freemantle, the book's protagonist, King seems to have found voices in the churning sea shells. The artistic style with which this book is written is like a refreshing breeze at sunset. Edgar Freemantle, a construction company owner, is nearly crushed to death by a piece of equipment, losing an arm, and most of his senses, due to a head injury. On the advice of his psychiatrist he relocates to the Florida Keys, specifically to Duma Key, and moves into a house he fondly calls "Big Pink." Shortly after moving in, Freemantle discovers he has supernatural artistic abilities. But his talent becomes a liability when he realizes that his artwork influences real-life events and people. Treks along the beach, part of his physical therapy, lead him to a kindred spirit, Elizabeth. But when the ghosts of her past begin to appear to Freemantle, he begins to understand the true source for his talent. Duma Key is a ripping good tale. King's writing has a deftness and poetic prose that has been absent from his work for quite some time. | |

I am a diehard Stephen King fan, so my review might be a little biased. I'm not finished with the book, I've got about 50 pages left to go, but I've gotten the general idea and I think anyone could pick this book up and enjoy it, regardless if you've been into SK books before. At first I didn't like how in the first chapter the main character's life falls apart, I thought it gave the story an immediately negative tone that I didn’t understand that because it wasn't so much a scary feeling, but a sad one. If you feel this way too I urge you to keep reading. You'll find out why it’s necessary to start off on such a violent and sad beginning once you get near the end. Like all of SK's post-millennia work, the intricacy of the story will capture and amaze you. And, most importantly, give you a good scare. | |

However, Ebay's searching system is bad and inconvenient. Before changing the policy Ebay stores was visible, not a buyer has to check the certain box to see Ebay stores' items. Not every potential buyer is Computer experienced, they have no idea they have to check some box to see the stores. Secondly, this "best match" drives me crazy. I changed my settings for "Search options" and when I'm sign in SOMETIMES it works: when I'm searching for something it is in "ending soon" order. But not all the time. They system shows me "Best match" even though my setting is for "ending soon". And, of course, if I am not sign in, the "best match" is a default. And while I am wasting my time for the "best match" and their products are not for me (however, their "service" is on top) the right product is gone. | |
