Synopsis
In Carolyn Jessop's courageous and fascinating memoir, she exposes the bitter reality of life within the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the ultra-conservative and cult-like sect of Mormonism that exists in small towns in the deserts of Utah and Arizona. As a teenager, Jessop was forced into an arranged marriage with a much older man who already had three wives. As a woman, she was expected to be utterly docile at all times, while her eight children were brainwashed with religious doctrine. Eventually Jessop managed to escape from an isolated and abusive world, and even managed to bring her children with her.
