"Quite possibly the greatest game ever made" -GameFan Magazine

I think this quote sums it right up, taken directly from the reverse side of the Final Fantasy VII CD case. This game has almost been out for ten years now, so if you somehow haven't played it yet now would be a great time to begin.

In my opinion, Final Fantasy VII's story line is worlds and worlds beyond any other RPG. Secondly, the soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu is hands down the best OST created for any video game. This was the game that sparked 3-D rpg gaming for years to come.

I specifically remember walking into Frys Electronics here in Arizona right when this game was released. I had no idea what this game was but it had a neat looking cover. This is not an exaggeration; the store had a 30 foot upper shelf of all assorted PS1 games, and the entire bottom shelf was ALL ENITRELY FINAL FANTASY VII GAMES. Yes, the story actually had as many copies of Final Fantasy VII to amount for every other video game in the store combined, in the PS1 category. That's when I knew this game was something special, so I instantly purchased it and have no regrets.

If you click my me page you will see it as #1 on my favorites list.

Though I can't imagine how in the world it could be possible for someone to be into RPG console gaming and NEVER experiencing Final Fantasy VII yet, but if this is the case buy the game immediately.

I vote this game 5/5, excellent, and out of my whole game collection consisting of thousands of titles, this is the greatest game I have ever played and I highly doubt that it will ever be topped in my lifetime.

Yes, it's that good.

The Core Playsation Game - A Must Play!

Final Fantasy VII was the first ever 3D Final Fantasy game to hit the markets and was a highly anticipated hit.

The game is played in a turn-based RPG style and the premise is to save the world! (Is there any other premise for FF games?) Cloud, along with a group of his friends must collect Materias (orbs that contain special powers) to face off with Jenova and Sephiroth in the battle to save humanity.

The game is packed with great graphics for its time and many of the Final Fantasy summons from Final Fantasy VI and IV make an appearance in the game as well.

With the recent release of the sequel to Final Fantasy VII in DVD and UMD format(Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children), it's certain that those who watch the movie first will want to play the game as well! And for those of you who no longer have the game, you might want to pick up a copy for old time's sake.

This game, along with the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (also available on eBay) would make a great gift for the holiday season!

A FINAL FANTASY (AND RPG) MILESTONE

I played Final Fantasy VII when it first came out as an avid follower of the entire FF series, and it's been hailed as "quite possibly the greatest game ever made" by GameFan magazine. It's been entertaining FF fans for about ten years and the enthusiasm does not seem to have abated. Highly anticipated at the time as the first 3D FF game, it did not, and does not, disappoint. This is a must-have for any RPG gamer, and should be enjoyed even though technically is has since been surpassed by later installments in the series. For long-time RPG fans, this magnificent epic will bring a wave of nostalgia for the days when this was considered the height of technical advancement. For first-time players, the gameplay may seem outdated and the graphics blocky and awkward looking, but it sounds as though the superior aspects of the game still shine through when you read reviews from those playing for the first time.

PROS
- Hailed by many gamers to have the most compelling, in-depth, and emotional storyline of all the FF installments. Story is augmented by unique and original dialogue, dreams, memories, visions, and other enrichments that allow the player to delve deeper into the characters identities, personalities, and roles. Gamers will enjoy a memorable saga of friendship, love, politics, honor, bravery, sacrifice, corruption, surprising plot twists, superior villians, and much, much more.

- First FF game to offer 3D polygonal characters, an innovation at the time and still enjoyable.

- Multiple side quests and mini-games, including secret FMV's special moves, and hidden characters.

- Choose from nine playable characters recruited throughout the story.

- Contains over an hour of enjoyable full-motion video scenes throughout the game that draws the player deeper into the story, creating a movie-like environment.

- Players enjoy never-before character enhancements such as the auto status abilities such as auto haste, auto resurrection, and the ability to absorb magic from opponents.

- Expansive character and weapon customization, summons, and magic.

- Large, detailed, and delightful world that you can travel on foot, by chocoba or airship, or buggy.

- Memorable and fabulous musical score, one of the best I can remember in any FF or RPG game.

- One of the most memorable bad guys in RPG gaming history, Sephiroth!

CONS
- Overabundance of gil and ability to steal weapons takes the edge off the battles and "struggle" of characters during gameplay that has always been a hallmark of FF games.

- Not as challenging as past games.

This game by far is the best final fantasy game ever. Easy lvling system. I love the magic and summoning system works with the weapons and armour you have gems to put in them, and some armour can hold alot. Overall gameplay Was great. Its One of these games that will have you playing for a long time, its not that easy but its actually a game where you will have to think and not be able to beat it at a weekend at grandma's house.!!

Final Fantasy VII is one of the ebst RPG Games out there. Not exatcly for its graphics, rather its storyline. The graphics could use some improving, but are still very good considering when this game was made and when it came out. The storyline for this game is excellent, you have friendships being forged, broken, enemies being made into temporary allies only to become enemies once again a moment later. Its full of twists and turns and unexpected events. I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a RPG Game with a good storyline, not necessarily excellent graphics.

This in my judgement is the best Final Fantasy out of all The Final Fantasy Games. This has a great story line. Top it off with excellent game play. When this is remade for the PS3 I think it will be the top seller for along time. Altho this is for the Playstation the Graphics in my mind are still good for the system. This has a Great replay value and makes a great collectors item.

A Must Have Title

Final Fantasy 7 is the Final Fantasy that caused a generation to mourn the death of a fictional, yet beloved character, never done in an FF title before or since. FF7 became the game to which all future titles in the series will be compared to. Due to Final Fantasy 7's incredible popularity, it spawned multiple spin-off games and even a full-length film.

The game itself is very well put together and has amazing music! Final Fantasy 7 was the first FF game to be put on Playstation (PSX) and was therefore the first to have three dimensional graphics! Bringing the ability to raise and breed Chocobos in this game added a lot of extra side-quests as well! You will not be disappointed with this title.

This game is not just a classic... It's legendary now.

Very Possibly the Best Game of All Time

I have several copies of this game in my possession because everytime I see it, I want to buy it again. I lvoe this game that much, and so do a neat eclectic combination of young adult video game fanatics that I call Family and Friends.
This game was not only a mind-rocking play with a magical essence of sucking you into the scenario face first, it kept me up for days, playing in rotational shifts (for leveling up of course) with my step sister. It was the first time we bought a walkthrough jsut so we woulnd't miss anything the game had to offer.
Our eyes burned, Out bladders ached, and yet we played on...why? Because FFVII had become part of our lives. Cloud was guy we knew personally, our favourite drinks were served at Seventh Heaven. We couldn't tell you exactly what mako was but goddamn Shinra for sucking it outta the planet!

This game to me now, at the age of 20, is a peice of powerful nostalgia that takes me back to my adolesence. People talk about how movies can change their lives or teach thme new things. This game was so much more than a game to Us. It was more than a pixelated thrill ride with snowboarding, balloons, and blocky monsters galore. It was an emotional adventure that became our own. Final Fantasy VII can do for you what nothing in live can do for you. You can go on emotional rollar coaster adventure, with sword on back and friends in tow. This game to us was not a simulation of some script some japnese guy wrote and thought people would like. It was a work of utter art that made us cry, made us angry, made us break four different controllers, starve ourselves, forget to pee, suffer reality dissociation after playing for nine hours and definately...one HELLUVA GOOD GODDAMN TIME.

Best Game. Ever.

For starters, FFXII biggest advantage over pretty much every rpg to date is the size and population of its world. The towns in FFXII, though few in number, are likely the most amazing locals players have ever stumbled through and judging by early next-gen rpg offerings they’re not getting beat anytime soon. Besides just being large in scope and draw distance, what makes the areas stick out so much is the “living factor”. Or basically what the game does to make it feel like you’re really there. One way it does this is by filling cities to the brim with NPCs who not only stand or sit around, but have all sorts of animations that make them seem like they really exist. For example, one time I walked over to a pair of NPCs who were playing some type of chess-like board game. Watching them sit and move pieces for a few seconds I suddenly saw one of the two get up, yell something to the other player and walk away shaking his head. What was their story? What happened? That’s the stuff that you’ll have to use your imagination for. But those little touches are just makes everyone and everything seem so real. Further enhancing this is how these little animation pieces never feels random, but instead intelligently placed. Walking into a skill shop I one time noticed that the second floor had been chained off and a moogle was in front of the chains telling me to please not go beyond the chain. Peeking my camera over the chain I then saw 5-10 moogle workers walking around in the back picking up books off the shelves, giving them to each other, performing some kind of magic, and making skills so you can buy them in the shop! It’s little touches like this that just round out the world and make FFXII’s Ivalice the most realistic rpg world ever portrayed in a game, as well as the most immersive one one.
