Bought GoW due to all the great reviews. I am a big Halo fan but with the demise of the master chief, I am looking for another series to take its place. GoW controls are pretty intuitive except for the A button move to run up against cover etc. Took me a while to get comfy with it, but ok now. Weapons are pretty good. I havent gotten all the way thru yet, but there doesn't seem to be a ton of variety though. Enemies vary from annoying Kryll to really annoying Locusts to some nasty bosses - mostly they get you through overwhelming numbers. Storyline is ok but nothing fantastic. Graphics are pretty slick and move well - but very dark. Really need to have a dark room to see what is going on. Have played in co-op mode which seems pretty intuitive. Can't comment yet about the on-line co-op. Overall pretty happy with it. Looking forward to GoW2. | |

This game is a graphical masterpiece, and it's simpler to play than most FPS games these days. That's big to me, since I don't like gaming with a high learning curve. Gears of war is, simply put, visceral, carnal fun that you won't want your kids to catch you playing. | |
