The written form of this series are great and we congratulate the writer for getting kids excited to read a big heavy book, and that she dared to get the storytelling and adventure back into the hands of young readers. We do recommend this series for ages 8 and up because it really gets darker as the series grows and is not appropriate for wee-ones who are just thrilled with the idea of magic. The voice of the actor who reads the audio versions of this series stays true throughout the entire series and he is a master storyteller. The Harry Potter series is a cultural icon and really should be added to everyone’s read list but many adults have a tough time carving out enough time to pick up all the nuances of this craze. SPEND THE MONEY and get the audio series, you will not regret it. If you are a professional with loads of time on a plane or in the car buy the set new because the CD’s scratch so easily and you can always re-sell them at a fair price. Recently my husband has been listening to audiobooks on his ipod at work and we decided to upgrade to cds for all of our Harry Potter books because he can load them onto his ipod through the computer. | |

| 1 out of 1 people found the following review helpful. I purchased this Audio book set about a month ago, having already read the books, and wanting to share the book with my daughter. I love that in each volume it is the same reader, so that you get used to the different voices he uses for each character, as well as his reading style. It's a great way to sit down as a family and share reading. Just pop in the cd's, and the kids can read along with the CD's, helping to not only enrich their lives through reading, but aiding them with pronunciations, learning new words, and guiding them into a world of imagination. I find that the new versions you find in stores are a bit pricey. Also, I was hoping for a bit more from the CD's when first listening to them, possibly some sound effects to make it more real, and I do find that some of the reading seems akward, as in not fitting what is happening at the time of the story (i.e. someone is extremely excited, but their words are spoken as if they have not a care in the world). Overall, I would recommend this to anyone with a love for reading, and would also recommend this to anyone just getting into reading themselves, or reading along with the family, as a great tool to jumpstart the imagination and enter a world of excitement and innumerable possibilities. | |

If you buy from this seller you are rolling the dice. you will have to wait a long time and will probly have to use pay-pal to get your money back. | |

1 - I'm a big Harry Potter fan. (Read all the books at least 3 times.) 2 - I love audiobooks, especially when I'm driving or working in my veggie garden. So ... why didn't I think of it before? This is my favorite of the HP series, so it sure makes the gardening hours go by quickly. It all works for me! | |

Not only is the Harry Potter series fun to read and listen to, but it is unique in its genre; I haven't read any other fantasy books that present wizards and magic the way J. K. Rowling has, especially in such an entertaining way. The books on tape, especially, provide for significantly more entertainment when completing boring chores than you would get from the radio. | |
