Hello, I purchased this book from a recommendation from my neighbor. It is a very interesting true story of chris mcCandless who gave up his life among people to travel across america to his dream quest to alaska. the people he met on the way and his thoughts in his diary and letters that he wrote.
very good reading. betty

I would love to send a review about this product that I purchased but I'm not able to do so due to the seller never sending me the product. I was very interested in reading this book that I had ordered and now am going to have to go elsewhere to do so.

Into the Wild
by: 222danette (21Feedback is 10 to 49) Review created: 08/04/08

Although an interesting and tragic story, I have puzzled over the sensationalism it seems to have created. This is a story of a troubled, selfish young man who made poorly considered choices. He gives most of his money away, burns the rest, then takes minimum wage jobs and lives off the hospitality of others. He could have eased his family's worry and torment with a single phone call or letter. He chose to enter the Alaskan wilderness unprepared despite the advice of those more knowledgeable. For this he is a subject of hero worship?

Into the Wild... Adventures of reading!
by: amybritt6 (9) Review created: 07/08/08

I loved this book, and I think it is a book everyone should read. Society has emplanted a certain way of life for all Americans - Into the Wild proves that we don't all have to give into society's way. Yes, death shows it's face in the book, however death is just a way of life. Christopher McCandless lived the way he wanted to before he died. Into the Wild is an inspiration, moving piece of work that forces the reader to look at the way they live their life. I highly recommend!!!

Good Read
by: anninmaine (12Feedback is 10 to 49) Review created: 06/09/08

I bought the book after seeing the movie as a gift for my
19 year old son who was shipping out to sea for 2 months.
The movie was sad but excellent and I hoped that
when my son read it he could see that this young man
had serious mental health issues and needed help.
Still...what an amazing adventure it must have been.

Great book, Great movie~!
by: wvuekauffma (8) Review created: 06/09/08

I loved the book, but liked the movie better because of the visual components that are ALASKA. If you saw the movie and you were really interested in his life, then I suggest reading the book because it fills in a lot of holes that the movie left out.

Great story, fast reading and well worth it.

After reading the review of the movie, of the same name, I knew I wanted to read it. I always enjoyed reading stories of Alaska, from the time of my youth, with "Call of the Wild"

Gone too far
by: chiefjoeb (16Feedback is 10 to 49) Review created: 05/06/08

If you liked the movie but want to know more, this book will satisfy. Very well done history on a seemingly normal young man's yearning to get away from 'normal', try new things, and find his personal boundaries. Unfortunately, in this case, Alexander SuperTramp learned too late that he had gone too far.
