Format: Hardcover
Publication Year: 2008
Category: BIOGRAPHY & AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Valerie Bertinelli's candid and unpretentious memoir tells of her rollercoaster life, from her fresh-faced days as a child star on ONE DAY AT A TIME to her rock-and-roll marriage to Eddie Van Halen that ended in divorce in 2005, after infidelity on both sides, including a titillating lesbian encounter for Bertinelli. All this drama takes its toll on Bertinelli's waistline, and the memoir talks frankly and humorously about her ongoing weight problems until she joined the Jenny Craig weight-loss... | More

Book about Valerie Bertinelli
by: wendys941 (218Feedback is 100 to 499) Review created: 08/03/08

THe book was so good, kept your interest ,you didn't want to put it down,, There is nothing I disliked about the book,, I just hope she writes another book soon,,, It was a book that I could relate to with my weight situations and how she delt with stress was so much like me, and she inspired me to deal with my stress by finding another outlet besides eating and has helped me lose weight since reading her book lost 30 pounds..... and still going strong.so all I can say is Thank You, Valerie Bertinelli..........

Very interesting book.

This is a really good book. It surprised me because I don't read a lot of autobiographies - I usually think they are boring. Don't be put off by the "Losing It" and think that it is just a weight loss book. It isn't. It is a great story of Valerie's life (lots of insite on Ed Van Halen) and just the ups and downs of life. Very good.

Losing It by Valerie Bertinelli (2008)
by: victoria8675309 (23Feedback is 10 to 49) Review created: 07/05/08

Always liked Valerie Bertinelli although not a huge fan or anything. Wanted to read her book because I thought she would be honest and candid.....and she was!
A good read, down to earth and shared true feelings. The down side was that she didn't go indepth enough on some things and merely skimmed the surface.
I would purchase it again and read if I had to do over.

Losing It
by: garcia-gomez (194Feedback is 100 to 499) Review created: 07/04/08

It was boring. I wanted to read names, dates, places, of people she slept with, why, why the lies about the drugs, and the outright untruth about the "good girl" image she's tried to project through the years. I am a Van Halen fan which is the only reason I read the book. I feel sorry for Eddie and her, what a waste of 20 years....for both.

Title didn't really reflect the actual content of book.

Easy read, continuity. Surprising life Valerie led - never was a fan of Van Halen, but always liked Valerie in any shows I saw. There are bits and pieces of surprising gossip and tid bits; but in the end the good "gal" won; and I congratulate her on successful life as a mother and actress. I guess you could say Valerie was an enabler to an alcoholic/drug addict spouse, but though tho she procrastinated, finally set him free and herself as well. Weight loss incentive story was almost secondary; though for sure her whole life was measured by her weight at that particular period in time. I read Losing It quickly - was so much better than Burnt Toast by another actress we know, I never did finish that book

Losing It by Valerie Bertinelli

The book was well written and provides some guidelines for people that may want to lose weight and how it applied to someone well known for years.
We hear all the stories unauthorized and it was good to read the authorized version.

She's a sweet lady, and this is an honest biography. The story was revealing, and inspirational. It filled in a lot of gaps for me as I've been a fan of both Valerie and her ex-husband Eddie Van Halen.

I am NOT an avid reader, but stayed up until 4:00 this morning to read the first 11 chapters! Valerie (& her co-author) write in a warm, casual style that makes you feel as if you are just sitting down to have a conversation with "one of the girls".
