Dead Man's Chest

I think the word 'wow' pretty much sums up this movie. It was excellent! It definitely meets the standards set by the first movie.

This movie starts off on Will Turner's and Elizabeth Swann's wedding day, but the wedding is cancelled because of warrants for Will's and Elizabeth's arrests for helping Captain Jack Sparrow escape. Will is allowed to go out looking for Jack Sparrow to retrieve something from him (his compass) in exchange for his and Elizabeth's freedom. Will obviously runs into problems once he finds Jack. We find out that Jack has a debt to pay to Davy Jones, which he sends Will to settle for him and to find the key to the Dead Man's Chest which contains the heart of Davy Jones, the reason Will goes along with it is because Jack promises to give him his compass in return for finding the key. Once Davy's heart has been stabbed he is killed and all people (in this case mostly dead people) are freed from their debts to him. That is the shortened version, but there is still a lot more to this film. There are a great deal of hilarious parts in this movie as well, it will definitely keep you laughing.

The only bad part of this movie is that it ends with a cliffhanger. But it is very very entertaining.

If you are a fan of the first movie, or of Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom then you will love this movie!

Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest

Wow... that pretty much sums it up! Just plain WOW!!!

Stunning visuals, superb acting, breath-taking special effects, incredible fight sequences, and devilish villians make Dead Man's Chest one of the must see films of the year.

Johnny Depp is back and better than ever as Jack Sparrow, Bloom and Kneightly are superb in their roles as well, and the rest of the supporting cast does a stupendous job.

The Villians are absolutely terrifying (maybe a little too terrifying for younger audiences) and the costumes are incredible.

DMC had me on the edge of my seat through the entire 2 1/2 hours of action and adventure. And DMC has the one thing that the original film was lacking, an absolutely superb ending. I can't wait for the next film in this amazing series.

Final Verdict:

5/5

Rent or Buy?: This is one of the must own films of 2006. Fun for the entire family!!!

More often than not, movie sequels fall short of their orignal predecessor...no so with Pirate of the caribbean - Dead Man's Chest! An excellent movie that leaves the viewer wanting more!
One thing that helps the cause is the fact that all the original cast are back...but the cast grows with some worthy and talented additions!
The Star - Johnny Depp, playing Captain Jack, really helps make the movie...he truely makes the character his own, with a swaggering, cheeky persona that is comical, intriguing and somewhat complex!
There are multiple plot lines within the movie...Captain Jack has a battle to contend with his enemy - Davey Jones, played by Bill Night: a gross, evil character with superb costuming and special effects adding to the intensity of the movie! He draws Orlando Bloom's - Will Turner into the battle, as this character is involved in a simultaneous plot to save his love - Elizabeth Swan - Keira Knightly; and fulfill a mission to retrieve the movie's namesake - the Deadman's chest!
This movie has so many plus features....the acting for one is superb. The scenery and costuming is elaborate and really helps draw the viewer into the whole feel and premise of the film. The special effects are over the top which is what this movie of excesses really calls for and it is dramatic, intense and helps convey the sense of drama!
This is a long movie, but clever writing helps keep the viewer engaged....and the ending creeps us so suddenly and on such a dramatic note - that you really do not want the film to end....you sit there both mesmerized and distraught that you have to wait a year for the ending....as this movie my end but does not have an ending if that makes sense!
One can only wait with anticipation for the third and final film to answer our questions! And judging by the first two installments...it will be well worth waiting for!

This movie was so funny. It is worth seeing, and if you liked this one, you should wait until the 3rd one comes out. The effects were cool, and yet again, Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is one of the main people in the movie. He is so funny!

Although not as dark as it sounds, Dead Man's Chest delivers the goods and hints at many more adventures to come. I don't know if the Pirates writing crew is making this up as they go along or if they have a vision, but this film certainly hinted at a much broader vision of things to come with numerous references to past battles, loves lost, and hearts kept under lock and key. It is a much more encompassing movie than was The Curse of the Black Pearl, but it is much more loose in structure. Verbinski keeps the action going despite what is a pretty complicated set of stories, more or less interwoven together but ultimately left unresolved. Johnny Depp may get top billing but it is Orlando Bloom who takes the lead in this movie, holding his own against sea-monsters and the King's men alike. With nothing more to go on than the image of a key, Will Turner and Captain Jack Sparrow are reunited (sort of) in an attempt to unlock a chest that offers a strange treasure indeed. Keira Knightley is reduced to a stowaway, with some memorable scenes, but not as big a role as she had in The Black Pearl. Bill Nighy steals the show as the incredible Davy Jones, a half man/half sea monster that draws on Captain Nemo more than the Flying Dutchman, but develops a troubled dark soul all his own. Naomie Harris makes for a fetching Voodoo Queen who ultimately unlocks the secret of this adventure, aiding Captain Jack and crew on their dark voyage. Jack Davenport returns as Norrington, a much more compelling character this time around than he was in The Black Pearl. Having fallen from grace, he completes the triangle that makes for some pretty tense action, especially in the closing scenes.

Be warned that Dead Man's Chest is an open ended movie, setting up what promises to be a thrilling third installment to Pirates of the Caribbean. Not only that, it hints at possible prequels because it covers so much territory in this sprawling movie that it leaves you craving for much more.

Not as good as the first movie but classic Johnny Depp.

Charming rogue pirate Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is back for a grand, swashbuckling, nonstop joyride filled with devilish pirate humor, monstrous sea creatures, and breathtaking black magic. Now, Jack's got a blood debt to pay - he owes his soul to the legendary Davy Jones, ghostly Ruler of the Ocean Depths...but ever-crafty Jack isn't about to go down without a fight. Along the way, dashing Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and the beautiful Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) get caught up in the thrilling whirlpool of misadventures stirred up in Jack's quest to avoid eternal damnation by seizing the fabled Dead Man's Chest! Features: Audio Commentary with Writers Ted Elliot & Terry Rossio Bloopers Of The Caribbean Charting The Return - Pre-production Documentary Pirates On Main Street: The Dead Man's Chest Premiere According To Plan: The Harrowing And True Story Of Dead Man's Chest Mastering The Blade: Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport Captain Jack: From Head To Toe Meet Davy Jones: Anatomy Of A Legend Creating The Kraken Dead Men Tell New Tales: Re-Imagineering The Attraction Jerry Bruckheimer: A Producer's Photo Diary Fly On The Set: The Bone Cage

This was one of the best productions once again. Awesome performance by Captain Jack Sparrow. However, the ending was abrupt. Needless to say, this is obvious because a sequel is already in the making.

Neo.
