Rock Band is going to be the runaway hit this season!

Pros: Taking the genre to a whole new level
Cons: A bit on the expensive side to truly play this game

Please Note that I was able to play this game before the official release during a demo session.

Graphics - 9/10
For what the game is, you are not buying this game to play for the graphics – though EA and Harmonix was to put a lot stuff onto one screen, and it works well. The words and the activators are clear and bright. Great graphics for what it is (the game).

Sound – 10/10
The track list for this game, along with the original recordings and downloadable content, is a must have. You will get lost in involvement when playing this game. This is one of the best soundtracks in a game to date. The best addition is the sound of the instruments when you mess up – they just cut out.

Gameplay – 9/10
Though taking on new instruments Rock Band has taken this game this game down a new road, going to a new town and just nailed it. The drums, along with the fender are awesome. What is really impressive, but under published is the singing. This is a fun, yet interesting addition, to this platform.

Replay Value - 10/10
When you see the achievement list, it will make you achievement “gatherers” play this game again and again to get the full 1000/1000. Plus with the addition of online multiplayer, content downloads, and competitive play – it will hard not to play this game over and over. This is worth your $169.99 for the bundle this holiday season. Can you deny The Who - Who's Next? album after the first week available for download?

Overall - 10/10
This game is going to change the way developers take the gamer in the future. As an avid gamer, and a twenty-something, this game just pulled me in. The soundtrack, gameplay, singing, and peripherals all gel perfectly.

The new wired “Fender” guitar is heavier, durable, and a real close replica to an original Fender (3/4ths the size). Playing this, you feel as if you have a real Strat in your hands. Playing guitar for the last seven years, this instrument feels natural, and it is easy to orientate yourself to it. I must say that this is a nice controller, and I did not want to put it down. The buttons take getting used to, but that is because I am used to the buttons on Guitar Hero's peripherals.

The drums are well built, sturdy, and I have to say – just plain fun! The color coded drum heads, and kick pedal, feel good while playing them. Playing cross-handed style naturally, they set up the game to accommodate real drum playing style. This is the closest simulator I have felt. I would agree with the developers in saying that playing the drums on expert level would make you a better “real” drummer on a novice/intermediate level.

Singing – well… That is just plain fun. I must comment that the pitch recognizing, along with the tracks, makes this game the "all in one package".

I highly RECOMMEND that you get the bundle not only to save money, but to experience this game in entirety with your friends."

We've had an absolute blast playing it so far!!! Totally worth the $$$
The graphics are great. And even if you have a terrible singing voice, it gets lost in the music.

Rock Band

"Makes you want to have a real band"
Rock Band is certainly my game of the year, and for many reasons, but the simple fact of the matter is that no other music game allows you to rock out with this many people in the comfort of your home (or dorm) and have so much fun. In fact, few games offer so engrossing, addictive, an experience.

The Band World Tour mode, where you'll be spending most of your time, allows you and your friends (I hope you have friends who want to play - shouldn't be TOO difficult to find them) not just to play a few songs, but to really feel like you've created a band. You don't just have a band name - you back it up with a logo (created by combining pieces of art done by professional artists, which is pretty sweet), and you really form a band personality by customizing your individual characters. I probably have more than my share of fun customizing my characters, picking the right clothing combinations, hair, and so forth - but there are a lot of options to choose from, with every piece of clothing coming in quite a few colors, which gives you a lot of options overall. That's something you really do more when you're the only person playing the game, since your bandmates are going to want to play music, not watch you pick out a pants color.

The word "immersive" is cliche but also an uncannily accurate way to describe this game. When you're sitting there rocking out on your instrument of choice, it's really easy to get into the game. The game rewards you in little ways, like the "Authentic Strummer" bonus for the bassist if he only strums upward (like with real bass). Bashing on the drums is a blast (and really hard!), and guitar gets a lot of attention (as it should) but bass and vocals are just as fun. Depending on the personalities of your friend group, it may turn out that everyone has an instrument of choice, but people will still want to branch out regularly. Being able to get additional energy while in overdrive is a great, too - as is being able to save a failing band member. The game does a great job of making you feel like when you're doing well, you're REALLY doing well. Activating star power in tandem with your bandmates to get a massive bandwide multiplier going is a great, great feeling.

The problems? Well, there are a couple: the peripherals each have their problems. The bass pedal on our drums broke, and the guitar's strum bar, while feeling really easy and natural to strum, isn't so good for fast sequences of sequential notes. And the effects switch is kind of right in the way of the whammy bar, so you'll probably smash it and then distract yourself by trying to switch it back. But the guitar looks really great, and once you get used to it, you'll really like it. The microphone looks pretty similar to a recording mic but the lack of buttons is annoying because you have to keep a controller handy. (Personally, I think you should at least be able to say "OK", "Back", "Up", and "Down" into it for basic menu control.) Oh yeah, and the drum pads can be kind of loud sometimes, so people might get mad at you for playing late at night.

Another problem is in the readability of the notes. It's not that they're rectangular - you get used to that - but the fretboards are translucent and the background sometimes makes it hard to see the notes. Adding to this is the neat pattern you get when you go into Star Po-- I mean, Overdrive, and you'll definitely be seeing phantom notes

Rock Band ---- Rock On!!

Let's be honest. Everyone has wished to be part of a world-famous band at some point in their life - but that never happens. With Rock Band, that dream becomes a reality. The multiplayer feature is by far superior to any other game that I've played. Four people can simultaneously rock out on the four instruments: guitar, bass, microphone (a fan favorite), and my personal fave, drums. Whether using the quickplay feature or trying to make it big with "career," the game can be played for hours, literally. Finally, I am very impressed with the game's online capability, where you can face off against a random opponent, ranging from easy to expert. (Caution: I think the drummers on expert are the band's actual drummers! They're great.) The price tag of $170 in stores is a little steep, but if you ask me, it's well worth it for such a phenomenal experience.

Overall Excellent Game. Great Gift for ALL ages!

I was impressed! My brother and I bought the bundle with an "okay" game in mind but it really blew us away. The first night we had it, we stayed up past 2am playing it because we lost track of time! We usually beat games pretty fast but we aren't even half way. The game really challenges you. It keeps pushing you to try it on a harder difficulty in order to advance!

Gameplay: 10!

Songs: 10 (There are 50+ songs) You can see the song list here: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/830/830709p1.html

Controls: 10

Graphics: 7

The whole bundle is great. However I am one of the unfortunate ones that received a bad guitar. After about 5 hours of gameplay, the down strum stopped registering. You can see a report here: http://news.digitaltrends.com/news/story/14983/ea_acknowledges_rock_band_guitar_problems

But from what I hear, people had no problems sending it in and receiving a new one. There is a way to fix it but it voids the warranty. You can find the fix all over the internet. Just search Google. But that just shows you how good this game is. We got a bad version and I still game it a great rating. It is fun for all ages. I am definitely not a kid or a teenager anymore and still love this game. From all the songs I have played, they are all family friendly. No cursing or bad explicit ideas.

But it really is a great way to get the family or some friends together and just play and poke fun of one another. At first we were so nervous and self-conscious about how we'd sound or how we'd play, but now its like we enjoy every song like we were in a ROCK BAND! Sounds great on a surround sound system and if you had a widescreen, you won't have any problems with everyone seeing the screen for their notes. What's also cool is that you can use the Xbox guitar hero guitar and play it on this game. The bundle comes with 1 guitar, drum set, mic, and game, so you'd need to get an extra guitar to perfect your band! If you want, you can wait till Febuary 2008 for the wireless Fender Strat to come out! No more tripping on wires while rocking out! I hoped this helped! Good luck shopping!

Great Game to play with friends

Personally i suck at this game but beside the point it is an awesome game for those that have teh skillz.
Graphic wise it is pretty good. There isn't much you can do to improve it. It already good the way it is.
Of course the game is all about the music and it is the most important part of this game. The soundtrack kicks butt and it is bad ass. You get the basic track list and expanding with downloadable content. Man you can never get tired of this cause it is always growing and getting better. You don't need to play songs over and over again unless you really feel like it. One of the best soundtracks in a game to date.
I am sure gameplay wise depends on the player. Controlling them deal with alot of hand-eye coordination that i don't have but it the instruments Rock Band has takes this game from a game to a way of life. It is like real life man.

I have one con and that is most people think this is pricy and i sorta agree. But if you friends have it. Please take the opportunity to hand out alot and play to your hearts content. If you are that friend than prepare to not stop gaming rock sessions.

Truly groundbreaking in both premise and execution!

Gameplay: 9.5
Truly groundbreaking in both premise and execution, Rock Band is as close as you can get to really being on stage. With unique gameplay mechanics for each instrument (vocals, guitar, bass, and drums), Rock Band offers up several different ways to play, but the real meat of the game comes from the four player co-op modes, particularly the co-op World Tour.

Graphics: 8.5
The game has a great presentation with clean menus, and a smooth framerate. The activity going on in the background is a step above what you see on Guitar Hero III, with cool effects and more animated crowds and venues.

Sound: 9.0
While the few cover versions throughout the tracklist sound a bit off, they are few and far between in Rock Band, as the game boasts an impressive number of original master recordings, which sound as good now as when they first hit the airwaves.

Difficulty: Medium

Concept: 9.5
Rock Band turns the genre on its head, offering a highly polished rhythm game that stands as the quintessential testament to all of the progress that the genre has made over the past few years and allowing you to rock as never before.

Multiplayer: 9.5
Allowing you rock out with 3 friends across several different instruments is a fantastic notion for the rhythm-game genre, and Rock Band carries it in brand new directions. There are even some competitive modes in the mix to let you duke it out with a friend. The only downer is the lack of an online multiplayer World Tour.

Overall: 9.3
Rock Band is the next step in the rhythm game genre and the party game genre, effectively melding the two into an innovative package. While the build quality of the bundled peripherals feels a little flimsy and the whole thing is a bit pricey for many gamers’ budgets, the game is a wholehearted recommendation for any fan of music-based games.

Awsome Game! Rock Band ROCKS!!!!

By far the most fun of any video game out right now. Up to 4 people playing at the same time, and they can be anywhere in the world or all sitting in front of the TV your choice. Need a singer just get online and pick one up. Same with the guitars and drums. Plenty of songs to play and more coming all the time downloaded from the net. We opened the box and ended up playing about 5 hours first time. Till we were too tired to play any more. This is the one gift to have this Christmas. If you are lucky enough to get one enjoy!

This game is definately the best game of the year, and of my lifetime. We just bought it 3 days ago and have barely been able to tear ourselves away from it. I wouldn't be caught dead singing in front of another human being, but thankfully, you aren't scored on sining based on actual singing ability. You are scored based on being able to change and hit the different pitches. It's the way or time I will sing, and the only way or time that I will be considered good. LOL The guitar play is also great. Easier than Guitar Hero it seems. It's easier to follow the guitar sound, seems to match up with the song a little better. I have yet to try drumming, but I am horrible uncoordinated. However, my 17 year old brother in law and one of his friends came by to try the game out and neither of them had issues with the drums. They started out playing them, for their first time ever, on Medium. So if you have any kind of coordination, seems like they are a lot of fun as well. Everything on the game works great. It's so much fun putting together a band and even playing in Solo Tour mode. There are so many gigs, so many songs, I don't see myself, or anyone I know, getting bored with this game anytime soon.

The only thing I can say negative about this game, and it really isn't so much ABOUT the game, just the price of it. I initially came onto Ebay to price the game. I've always found stuff for less on here than in stores and on other websites. Every aution I was seeing was claiming that the game was SOLD OUT. Some even claimed that stores wouldn't be getting more in until February. I found this so hard to believe. And as a result of these claims, this game is being sold for upwards of $200-300 or MORE on here. I decided to go to Wal-Mart after finding it on their website, priced at $169.92. They don't sell it over the web site, but it said to check your local store. So I did. I got tired of watching 30 auctions at a time on here, only for them to shoot up from $50 or so to over $200 in the last hour of the auctions. I went to Walmart, went back to the electronics and gaming section, asked a lady if they had the game there to buy and she walked me around an aisle to where there were 10, out on the floor alone, and all priced at $169.92. So I bought it. After WalMart, out of curiosity, we stopped at Game Stop, they had about 15 of them out on the floor to buy. The game is just so much fun, and I'm an adult, so I know kids will really enjoy playing it. I would hate to think people are being taken in, taken advantage of, or being dooped into believing that everywhere is SOLD OUT of this game. You DON'T have to pay $200-300 or more for it unless you want to, or find it easier. No one should have to spend that for a video game. Go to WalMart or any other local video game store before you go paying that much more for it, not to mention, an extra $40 or more to have it shipped to you. I live 10 minutes from 2 places that sell it, and I haven't even checked all the other places around here that sell video games. I would say a 10 minute drive now is better than paying over $150 or more for it now or later on here. Just my two cents though. To each his own. Your kids will love you for buying them this game your college age kids will ADORE you for it, and even your karaoke loving husband will have a blast with it. I'm a woman and totally addicted to in only 3 days. So don't discount how much fun you could have with it
