Pros: Taking the genre to a whole new level Cons: A bit on the expensive side to truly play this game Please Note that I was able to play this game before the official release during a demo session. Graphics - 9/10 For what the game is, you are not buying this game to play for the graphics – though EA and Harmonix was to put a lot stuff onto one screen, and it works well. The words and the activators are clear and bright. Great graphics for what it is (the game). Sound – 10/10 The track list for this game, along with the original recordings and downloadable content, is a must have. You will get lost in involvement when playing this game. This is one of the best soundtracks in a game to date. The best addition is the sound of the instruments when you mess up – they just cut out. Gameplay – 9/10 Though taking on new instruments Rock Band has taken this game this game down a new road, going to a new town and just nailed it. The drums, along with the fender are awesome. What is really impressive, but under published is the singing. This is a fun, yet interesting addition, to this platform. Replay Value - 10/10 When you see the achievement list, it will make you achievement “gatherers” play this game again and again to get the full 1000/1000. Plus with the addition of online multiplayer, content downloads, and competitive play – it will hard not to play this game over and over. This is worth your $169.99 for the bundle this holiday season. Can you deny The Who - Who's Next? album after the first week available for download? Overall - 10/10 This game is going to change the way developers take the gamer in the future. As an avid gamer, and a twenty-something, this game just pulled me in. The soundtrack, gameplay, singing, and peripherals all gel perfectly. The new wired “Fender” guitar is heavier, durable, and a real close replica to an original Fender (3/4ths the size). Playing this, you feel as if you have a real Strat in your hands. Playing guitar for the last seven years, this instrument feels natural, and it is easy to orientate yourself to it. I must say that this is a nice controller, and I did not want to put it down. The buttons take getting used to, but that is because I am used to the buttons on Guitar Hero's peripherals. The drums are well built, sturdy, and I have to say – just plain fun! The color coded drum heads, and kick pedal, feel good while playing them. Playing cross-handed style naturally, they set up the game to accommodate real drum playing style. This is the closest simulator I have felt. I would agree with the developers in saying that playing the drums on expert level would make you a better “real” drummer on a novice/intermediate level. Singing – well… That is just plain fun. I must comment that the pitch recognizing, along with the tracks, makes this game the "all in one package". I highly RECOMMEND that you get the bundle not only to save money, but to experience this game in entirety with your friends."

| Simply put, Rock Band IS the Best Music Game Ever. | |

Gameplay: 10/10 Pros: 3 Unique Experiences in the Drums, Guitar/Bass, and Singing Band World Tour mode IS phenomenal and a true step in music game "campaign mode" The Guitar Hero gameplay that Harmonix pioneered works great and is slightly tweaked for the better and across the other instruments. Very approachable gameplay allows ANYONE to find an instrument and enjoy Cons: Difficulty of the Drums is extremely steep compared to the other instruments Band World Tour should allow you to complete the game (play all the challenges) on every difficulty rather than require you to play on Hard or above to unlock certain things...This results in you kicking some of your friends out of the band to beat certain challenges and thus taking away from the whole play with 3 of your friends aspect. Graphics: 10/10 Pros: Fantastic Animation, Great lip-syncing, tons of venues, great effect filters and different choreography for each song make this the best looking Music game I've ever seen. The create a rocker mode is deep enough to offer tons of variety, but casual enough to create a character in a few minutes. The User Interface is also way better during gameplay, less intrusive and slicker looking. There are no complaints here in the graphics department. Sound/Music: 9/10 Pros: Nearly all the songs are performed by the artist...and boy is that better than having covers. Tons of tracks span many decades and there's a much better mix of songs. There aren't the slew of "hard metal tracks that suck but are really hard to play" like there were in the final venues of Guitar Hero II. 45 Tracks with 13 Bonus Tracks shipped with the game and there are already a ton of downloadable tracks online that integrate perfectly into every mode. Cons: The 58 tracks don't compare to the 80ish that are in Guitar Hero III. However, each track does give you more since you can play it for 4 instruments. Some may complain about the downloadable content (why didn't they include it if it was ready on day 1?) but ultimately it's Great to be able to shell out $1.99 for specific songs you really like and the best part is that they seamless integrate into every facet of the game. Lasting Appeal: 10/10 Pros: The Band World Tour mode can last forever! I've put in over 20 hours probably and still have little "NEW" indicators by a bunch of cities. Then there's still all the more traditional solo careers...only about halfway through medium guitar, 6 songs into Easy Drums, and 20 songs of easy Microphone...The gameplay is great and there's always something new to strive for in Rock Band. All the above work has only netted me 90 achievement points...yikes! Cons: Band World Tour is currently only Local Play...supposedly there will be a patch which will really cause this game to explode. Average: 97.5% Tilt: +0.5% The fact that I played till 1:30am the first day I got it and then took the following day off to play it some more is a real indication of how great this game is...then over the weekend I had several different sets of friends (some who don' t even like Video Games) come over and enjoy the game is a testament to how good Rock Band is. The "Band" Co-op gameplay is well worth the $170 price tag and blows the competition out of the water (sorry GH3). Verdict: 98%

It was expensive, but compared to the entertainment value, totally worth every penny I've spent. We've had 3 "Rock Band parties" in the last 5 days; our friends were super impressed and all had a blast. Best party game ever!!! The sound quality is really good and the graphics much better than GH3. I love how customizable the avatars are.... the only downside is there aren't enough chick bands available yet for download

The game features plenty of famous bands and this time they are actually the real thing, not just covers from previous hits like the Guitar Hero Series. However the package does comes with its flaws. Let's review ROCK BAND! The Good: Ok, so the gameplay is great, it is tons of fun, you can download add on song packs for the game and its great that now you can play more than just 2 people with different instruments vs. Guitar Hero. The game features a well made menu, easy to navigate and lets you create custom characters. The online play is fun and is a great addition to people who don't happen to have 3 other friends with them at the moment, however if you have a guitarist, singer, and drummer and lack the 4th person you can always find someone online willing to join your band. The Bad: As I've said, gameplay is for the most part good, however there are some flaws with the instruments. There is a recall on the guitairs because the strummers go bad and no longer feel crisp, which is fine if you're just playing on easy, but when you get into tougher songs hitting notes become painfully hard due to the defective strummer. The other thing is the drums are somewhat awkwardly placed, the foot pedal seems too close, it does take a little getting used to. My biggest complaint about the hardware however has to be the poorly designed foot pedal. The pedal has a tendency to get weak in the middle and snap in half due to the lack of a center section support. Harmonix should have realized that people are going to get into the game and the foot pedal was going to be one of the main things that were going to get beat on. As of owning this item I have gone through 2 foot pedals, and its not always adults using it either. Conclusion: Rock Band is a great game! Great for the holiday season gifts. The flaws that is has are definitely overshadowed by a fun game with lots of character. This is definitely worth the money, but hopefully Harmonix does take a look in some redesign issues with the hardware. ENJOY!

It runs perfectly, but i have NTSC equipment and a Japanese 60gb PS3 (NTSC-J) so for those wondering about possible lag problems with PAL TV-systems i cannot answer but i can't see that there would be any problems since you can calibrate it. The one thing i do not like about it is the lack of Bluetooth for the drums and the stupid batteries for the guitar. Seems a bit out-dated.. But i guess i could have read more about it and not just the older "full-bluetooth" news . Anyway it's a great party game with lots of songs and also downloadable ones at the PS-Store . So it will give plenty of entertainment before something better comes along. I haven't even unpacked the microphone yet so i can't say anything about that part :) But this is a 5-star game with entertainment for anybody. Now i just need the bass guitar !

My buddies and I get together every Thursday night to play and we have a ball. Anyone can play and have fun, it really feels like you are playing the music and as you progress and get better you too can feel like a real rock star even though you are not and if you tell people they will not understand, until you give them a taste and then you have an addict on your hands. So be careful and have fun. This is a must have game and worth every penny.
