After a so-so last book,John is back!Starts off fast, with the main charcters in court and winning. The evil billioner(yes, billion)is stunned.Money can't buy everything. Then his wife makes him blow 17 million dollars that night at a chartity auction.Of course he needs to find a way to get even, and things our moving along. The losing court case is to be heard at State Supreme court in 18 months or so.He will lose many more millions(billions?) if they uphold the vertice. So,he deceides to buy a Judge and the book is really moving along now.The last 50 pages of the book, our as good as anything I've ever read. You just don't know how the book really will end.Can money buy anything? This book tells Grishoms thoughts on that question.

Grisham returns to the legal system.

Finally, Grisham returns to where his best work has been done, the legal thriller. Liked the look given of the legal system in action under the pressure of unscrupulous, wealthy people. Fast, easy read, but keeps your interest until the end.

Grisham is back. This is the John Grisham we know and love. His courtroom drama, evidence building, not knowing what is going to happen next. We have all been salivating for this book and I hope he is working on another one like this. I do enjoy his other stuff, but the law is where he really shines. If you like the original Grisham stuff, be sure to read The Appeal. It really is appealing.

This is another good book by John Grisham involving lawyers, good and bad. His writing style is very realistic and his stories are intriging and does tow things for me: makes me understand the legal profession much better and appreciate the good, honest lawyers out there; and makes me realize how crooked and dishonest many other lawyers can be (as in any profession, there and good and bad representatives); especially in the political arena and those huge, big money lawyer firms. Though these are novels, it helps me understand what can go on in class action lawsuits and the difference between the starving lawyers (the honest ones) and the big money boys (and girls) - it shows why the large majority of politicians are lawyers (Hillary Clinton would be an perfect antagonist in one of Grisham's books). His earlier books I think were better to much better, but this book is worth reading. I have all his books and will continue to purchase any future ones he may write. I highly recommend his earlier books as like I said, as they were somewhat better than his latest one. But I would also recommend this book too.

I loved this book. I get impatient with those successful writers that pump out a book a year or like James Patterson a book a week because you can tell sometimes they are just in it for the money. Grisham's efforts beyond the legal arena (that weird christmas book the baseball book for example) weren't as successful as his legal thrillers (I LOVE THE PELICAN BRIEF - it is the best book..or King of Torts which I think everyone thought was crud but I loved it)...but this book is true to his legal thriller form..the characters are wonderfully well written, deep - enticing plot - such evil you want to read every page..the protagonists are hopeful but not so naive as to be irritating and the prototypical rich evil guy is elegantly drawn and reminded me way too much of one of my brothers but otherwise..and yes, he's married to a trophy wife -- ick.

I would buy this book and I would read it if I was you - If I was you I'd use correct grammar not like I'm doing. It's just a great read and we don't get enough of those you know? Grisham deserves his $$ on this book..I don't begrudge him a profit at all!
