Hooked

I remember sitting in class reading from our textbooks when I saw that a girl had placed another novel inside her text and was reading that instead. It was a pretty good sized novel, and I became instantly curious what book had her hooked. I leaned over to see if I could read the title. She noticed at once. She smiled and hastily scribbled the title and author of the book down on a piece of paper and handed it to me.
Without even knowing what the book was about, I made my next stop the library. I found the book and flipped it over to read the summary. I was disappointed to learn that it was about vampires. I was not into this mumbo jumbo...For some reason, I checked it out anyway, and I have to say that IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I EVER DID! I have read the two sequels to Twilight, and anxiously await "Breaking Dawn" as well as the full-length featured film!

The Apple

Stephenie Meyer is one of the many people who happen to have written a book; c'mon, who hasn't? Meyer, however, stands out in her own litle world very much like J.K. Rowling with her Harry Potter series, and as you read on in this, you'll see why. (If you see 'SPOILER' written anywhere, don't read if you don't want to hear parts of the book that haven't already been mentioned in reviews online.)

The book Twilight, the story jumps right into the tale of Bella Swan, formally known as Isabella Swan, a girl who has divorced parents, and is off from her sunny Jacksonville home in Florida to live with her father in Forks, Washington, where as she puts it, 'the rain never stops'. The dreary agreement to move in with her father was due to the fact that Bella did not want to strain her mother's new marriage to her new husband, who was trying to kick off his basketball career.

Bella, like any person moving to another place and attending a new school, starts off like and normal real person would; she meets people, drives to school, and like every girl, catches the sight of the cutest boy in school, Edward Cullen. Everyone tells Bella the same tale; they know little to nothing about dear Edward, except that he never comes to school on sunny days. Oh- that, and he's deathly beautiful.

Bella, determined to figure out what exactly Edward is, litterally places her neck on the line and avoids death one too many times in Forks, where she is known mostly as a 'danger magnet'. Her father, the police chief, keeps an eye on his high school daughter quite frequently. Eventually it gets to a point where you'll catch on that these two are the today fantasy version of Romeo and Juliet...without the deadly ending. For now.

-SPOILER-

As Bella follows along after Edward, their relationship grows more closer, more intimate, until Edward cannot keep himself away from Bella and says, "I'm tired of trying to stay away from you."

-END OF SPOILER-

The best part of this book was that it was so real, you had to wonder frequently if it really was real. Forks is an actual place in Washington, as so is Jacksonville. The line between real and fake in the book it so murky you don't care- you just want to read more and pray it never ends.

But dont't worry, the sequel, New Moon, gets better too.

Oh my gosh, this book and the rest of the series are SO amazing. I am so glad i took my friends advice to read it. As soon as i stuck my nose into the first book i was hooked. The affect of these books are so incredible you almost wish they were real. From a teenagers prespective this book, along with the others are very easy to relate to. If there was a sad part in the book i would cry, if there was a funny part in the book it would make me laugh. I don't know how Stephenie Meyer writes like she does but i hope that she continues to write amazing books and fast. I was so amazingly hooked to her novels Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse that i read each one within the time spand of a day if that ( obviously i didn't really do anything else besides read for three days ...lol) Anyways so to all the people out there that read this review of her novels i hope you run to the store and buy and read all her books, or continue to read them if you've already started. I felt that i really, trully enjoyed reading the books Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse written by the wonderful Stephenie Meyer. She has an impecable imagination that it makes me wish that i lived in the world of her books. Best of Luck on the next books she writes, they'll be a blast for me and all her fans to read.

WAY Better Than I Was Expecting & Not Just For Teens

I bought "Twilight" because when the t-shrits came out they sold out in a day and I was wondering what all the hype was about. I knew it was a movie coming out, but I had no idea it was first a series of books. So like always when I am curious I jumped right in.

I bought "Twilight" and less than 30 hours later (I did have to work LOL) I had finished. The entire time my nose was pressed into the book I had a smile on my face and sometimes I laughed out loud at the romantic tension and casual bantering between the main characters Edward Cullen (a "vegitarian" vampire) and Bella Swan (a girl wise beyond her years who takes care of her father). Although the books are geared to a younger "high school" audience the romance between the characters is all VERY clean. When she realizes what he and his "family" are, although she doesn't fear him in the least, her life is suddenly in danger from a pack of nomad vampires.

For parents I'd like to note although it is in its sence a "romance" it is I think, well written and not at all vulgur ("above the neck romance" I heard it described in an article). It is also good to realise that it is books like this series and the Harry Potter series that have gotten teens once again interested in reading which I think makes them noteworthy in themselves.

Have a Bite

I saw this book on the shelves of Borders and it drew my attention, but I didn't get it right away. I came back on many occasions to buy other books and kept seeing it, so I eventually picked it up and read the back and decided to give it a try despite my starting to grow out of Young Adult Fiction at time.

Well, after reading the first few pages, I was HOOKED into the book. I think what's so good about this book is that Meyer has the magical ability to draw us into the world of the protagonist and offer us the romance that every girl dreams of. The sensuality is better than all those novels out there about sex and one night stands. It's too fleeting. We like the moderate servings of romance and sensuality offered between interesting thoughts of the main character and some nice action. It's great.

Now, the thing that slightly irks me is the overuse of certain words, one of which that is stamped upon my memory is "grimace." The other thing is, we never really got to see why Edward fell in love with Bella. It's a bit unclear and I also get the impression that Bella only loves him for his ridiculously good looks (reading this book has given me false expectations of guys in real life). Maybe Meyer could have expanded that a little more. Otherwise, this is a great book and it should be read...I mean it MUST be read! So go on, take a bite!

I got this book because my sister recommended it, we have very similar tastes! Perfect blend of suspense, love story, and action! Kept my finger on the next page, ready to turn....couldn't put it down! It was full of humor, which was a suprise for me, but so great to get that in there.
Bella meets her soul mate in a vampire!
Bella: How old are you?
Edward(vampire): 17
Bella: ...how long have you been 17?
Edward (smirks): A while
Great Great Great....A MUST READ BEFORE THE MOVIE COMES OUT THIS FALL!!!

NOT ONLY FOR YOUNG ADULTS

I am a big vampire genre fan, so when I saw this book in a magazine, it caught my eye. I have to admit, I felt a little funny even thinking of buying it, because it is listed and shelved as a young adult book. Well, I decided to "bite" the bullet, and I purchased it, curled up with it over a weekend, and could not put it down. Don't let the fact that you have to visit a different section of the book store stop you from reading it, (or of course, purchase it on Amazon, no one will ever know if you don't want them too). This is a really great book with real emotions all wrapped up in a vampire story, a young woman's story of having to grow up faster then she maybe should have because of her parents, and yet still dealing with all the issues that growing up brings with it. All in all, a great book, glad I decided to overlook the age description. Although some parts of the book are kind of boring, a little too much description of every second of her life.

I loved vampires long before this book was written. I loved how the author portrayed the vampires in this book...good and evil. I loved the romance and the suspense of the book. I'm having a hard time remembering that Edward Cullen is a fictional character. I recommend this book and the rest in the series to all that will listen. This book will become your obsession!!

my review of the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

I heard about this book from a friend of mine, I am not usually a vampire book fan. Once I picked this book up I could not put it down and it is a pretty big book. I really enjoyed the whole story it is written very well. I have since read all of the twilight series and each is just as great as the first. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good story. It is not too scary and really not to unbelievable. You may just find yourself wanting to be Bella so you too can be with Edward Cullen!
My only drawback is in each of the books there is a bit of history of things in the book that I think is a bit too drawn out.
